Mike brought to my attention an article about an apparent 300 changes to the ESV over the past 10 years since it was first released. It has been suggested that it might have been better if the publishers announced the changes in one major revision instead of slipping them into print annually. I think the article Mike linked to was a tad harsh on the ESV and the changes however, I would have thought it better to save the changes for a revision down the track. Who knows one day they might even move to a gender inclusive version! 
The ESV had so much promise as a translation/revision (really it is only a revision of the old RSV) but for me, the folks who have backed it have ruined it because they seem hell bent on demeaning the work of other great translations like the NIV and no doubt the NLT and CEB. When well known pastors and scholars back the ESV an then in the same breath bag the NIV I am both angered and saddened. Surely they are all good for our shelves? I wouldn’t ban or blacklist the ESV (I have one on my self) but for me it is tarnished.
